چکیده

S U M M A R Y We consider the problem of using scattered waves to recover an image of the medium in which the waves propagate. We address the case of scalar waves when the sources and receivers are sparse and irregularly spaced. Our approach is based on the single-scattering (Born) approximation and the generalized Radon transform. The key to handling sparse sources and receivers is the development of a data-weighting scheme that compensates for non-uniform sampling. To determine the appropriate weights, we formulate a criterion for measuring the optimality of the point-spread function, and solve the resulting optimization problem using regularized least squares. Once the weights are determined, they can be used to compute the point-spread function and thus determine resolution, and they can also be applied to the measured data to form an image. Tests of our minimization scheme with different regularization parameters show that, with appropriate weighting, individual scatterers can be resolved at subwavelength scales even when data is noisy and the locations of both sources and receivers are uncertain. We show an example in which the source–receiver geometry and frequency bandwidths correspond to seismic imaging from multiple local earthquakes (passive seismic imaging). The example shows that the weights determined by our method improve the resolution relative to reconstructions with constant weights.

Accelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging through Compressed Sensing Theory in the Direction space-k

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging method widely used in medical diagnosis. Data in MRI are obtained line-by-line within the K-space, where there are usually a great number of such lines. For this reason, magnetic resonance imaging is slow. MRI can be accelerated through several methods such as parallel imaging and compressed sensing, where a fraction of the K-space lines...

Surface Estimation for Microwave Imaging

Biomedical imaging and sensing applications in many scenarios demand accurate surface estimation from a sparse set of noisy measurements. These measurements may arise from a variety of sensing modalities, including laser or electromagnetic samples of an object's surface. We describe a state-of-the-art microwave imaging prototype that has sensors to acquire both microwave and laser measurements....

3D quantitative microwave imaging from sparsely measured data with Huber regularization

Reconstructing complex permittivity profiles of dielectric objects from measurements of the microwave scattered field is a non-linear ill posed inverse problem. We analyze the performance of the Huber regularizer in the application, studying the influence of the parameters under different noise levels. Moreover, we evaluate the whole approach on real 3D electromagnetic measurements. Our focus i...

Recursive Dynamic CS: Recursive Recovery of Sparse Signal Sequences from Compressive Measurements: A Review

In this article, we review the literature on recursive algorithms for reconstructing a time sequence of sparse signals from a greatly reduced number of linear projection measurements. The signals are sparse in some transform domain referred to as the sparsity basis, and their sparsity pattern (support set of the sparsity basis coefficients’ vector) can change with time. We also summarize the th...

Overcomplete Dictionaries for Scene Classification in Coded-Aperture Spectral Imaging

I. INTRODUCTION Traditional spectral imaging sensors entail the acquisition of high-dimensional data that is used for the discrimination of objects and features in a scene. Recently, a novel architecture known as coded aperture snapshot spectral imaging (CASSI) system has been proposed for the acquisition of compressive spectral image data of a scene with just a few coded focal plane array (FPA...
